{4 guys, 2 moms and a beautiful baby girl}

friday afternoon i got a call from my bestie in houston, she was on her way and would be here by 4 o'clock.  arrrrgh! i forgot something! something HUGE! nicole, her hubby and her precious 3 kiddos, my godchildren, would be here soon, and i FORGOT they were coming! i labeled myself right then and there as the biggest moron EVER and called nicole to let her know that i had forgotten and of course scheduled shoots ALL WEEKEND long!  but, in true nicole fashion {we are total opposites!, me a bit high-strung and her way laid back} she said don't worry we'll see you sunday morning and the kids can play.  we met in rosebud, where they were staying, and the boys had a great time and of course...i got to snuggle up with my libby lu {not her real name, but what i call her}.  we went for a walk down the main street and our boys got completely dirty, found an old rotary dial telephone in an alley {aka...ancient treasure}, pretended to be bank robbers in front of an old abandoned building, and performed a show at some random stage set up in the middle of town.  and of course, i got some beautiful pictures of my sweet libby-lu, the ONLY girl out of 4 friends in college!  now that is one lucky little girl!  i love you nicole and boys and of course my libby lu!

{155 days left, but who's counting}

a beautiful crawford senior...that's who!  miss hunter told me tonight during her shoot {well, actually she told the crawford police officer...but that is a whole other story. lol! actually we weren't in trouble at all, he just heard us giggling outside the police station.}

anyhoo, she is obviously ready to leave the nest and head off to texas a&m.  although i am sure she will be accepted, she told me she hopes she is because that is the only application she sent off.  so, in just 155 short days that will probably drag on forever to her, but will fly by for her mom and dad, she will be off.  no doubt to college station to grow up, make new friends, learn sooooooo many life lessons and change the world!

thank you hunter for allowing shelly negrete photography to share your senior year with you!

{why i love little chickadees and chickadoos...}

i love kids...they crack me up.  they are kids, they don't try to be kids, they just are.  i want to be like that again.  you know, not have a care in the world, free, laughing, running, jumping, playing, adventurous kids.  i love this image.  not only is this guy ADORABLE, he was a kid!  he did not care that we were trying to get the perfect image for this adorable family's christmas card, he was just being a funny, carefree, happy, playful 6 year-old boy.  and guess what, we got all the images we need for his sweet family's perfect christmas card BUT we also got some of the most precious images, the ones of this cutie-patootie and his beautiful sister...just being kids, perfect in every way!

i love kids...they crack me up and they are wise beyond their years!  we should listen to kids more often or maybe...we should be more like kids and live in the moment a little more!

{calming the nerves}

{...another beautiful midway high senior!}
it's a funny thing...i ALWAYS get nervous before a shoot.  no  matter how well i have prepared, no matter how loud i turn up the radio on the 90's channel and sing {well try anyway}, no matter how much i tell myself, "you can and will make it work"... i always get nervous! the thing about nerves is that there is always someone around to calm them down and i almost always find out it is my clients.  each an every person that i have met on this amazing journey of photography has calmed me down with their sweet smiles, laughing children, or a look that lets me know they trust me.  i thank all of my clients for that.  i feel so blessed to have met so many wonderful people this year.  i look forward to many more with their precious families!!!

{my baby turned my kindergarten guy}

{my baby turned my kindergarten guy}
{koop working on his "all about me poster"}
...so kindergarten didn't really start off all that great for koop dog.  in fact, he wouldn't really tell us anything at all about his first few days of school.  school has always been great for our big guy jake.  he loves being around his friends and is always ready to go!  koop, we knew, would be another story...

so, we anxiously awaited the first day.  we talked it up and told him all summer how great it would be.  jake told him the first day was the best because they just "showed you around the school" and "you ate lunch and came home".  koop was cool with that.  he said he thought he would go ahead and try it the first day and that was it.  well, the first day came.  new backpacks in hand and cool new nike shorts and shirts made it a little easier.  we thought everything was great...

until kindergarten parent orientation night.  i went ready to see all of the cute things that kooper had made (after all i got the end-of-the-week recap and it looked like it was sooooo much fun!) and much to my dismay, i couldn't find any of koop's work on the walls.  boohhoooo!  "okay, i thought...he just didn'tturn it in...right?"  uh NO!  he didn't do any of it.  he didn't have any "reward crayons" in his box.  all of the other kids did, but not koop.  oh no this was not going to be good!

after a short chat with the teacher, i was mortified to hear that koop told her he didn't like clifford the big red dog and didn't care to make a clifford out of a paper plate, a big green monster from the go away big green monster book or any other activities and worst of all...he was fine with "sitting out" of centers.

well what a difference a week or 2 makes because now, he is ready to do his homework, can't wait to read to us and loves all of his new bff's he has met (basically, every boy in the class).  so, there is hope for all kiddos...even koop dog, the boy who hated kindergarten.

love that guy!

{kindra ellamarie is here...}
my precious niece and her precious husband were busy on labor day!  this morning at 1:25, God sent our family a precious gift... {miss kindra ellamarie matthys}.

what a beautiful reminder of how precious and fragile life is.  there is no greater joy than holding a newborn baby and watching their tiny fingers and toes move, smelling their sweet heads and best of all...watching your beautiful niece mother that precious baby.

sarah, aunt shelly is sooooo proud of you. you are a beautiful lady and you are already a wonderful mommy!

{i heart faces-eyes}

{i heart faces...eyes}
so one of my favorite photography websites is i heart faces and this week's photo challenge is...eyes.  i had so much fun going back through all of the ictures i had taken this year looking at eyes.  they tell so much about a person, what they are feeling, thinking, wishing, dreaming...
anyhoo, it was hard to choose, i could only choose 6, here are a few of my favorites.

{happy boy, apprehensive girl, sweet big sister!}

 the beautiful barkley bunch
well, once again i have been given the opportunity to photograph some beautiful babies.  and once again it has been even more incredible because it is was and old friend from high school {and by old, i mean high school was a long time ago but of course the friend looks exactly the same as she did in high school even after have 3 kiddos and twins just 8 months ago...and yes even though she still looks amazing, i  consider her a friend...lol!}

anyhoo...i had the best time photographing her precious kiddos!

big sister kate is AMAZINGLY sweet with her baby brother and sister and of course as beautiful as her mommy, baby hank was so funny!  always smiling and flirting (until what seemed like every fire truck in waco came blaring down the street...can't blame him for that!) and baby ella was always checking me out, she wasn't quite sure about this whole "photo shoot" thing!  all 3 kiddos were amazing!

{good job, kelli and brian! lol!}
